Tryout Format
Friday Evening: Team Coaches and Selectors will not be in attendance. Practices will be organized and supervised by other volunteer coaches. This will allow players to get their legs and shake off any long drive before stepping up to do their best. Selection tryouts will begin on Saturday morning. At any point after the first session, the coaches and selectors may make top cuts and bottom cuts to sharpen their focus on the players.
Guaranteed Spots
No player is guaranteed a spot on the team.
Best Team
These teams are representative teams and efforts will be made to ensure that the top players participate.
Girls U-19
Girls are representative of the Northern Plains District. Because Montana and Wyoming each will field a team in this division, a play-in game will be scheduled in the spring.
Boys U-18
The boys U-18 team is a team that will participate in a schedule designed to showcase the players for advancement. The fall schedule will be limited to two or three weekends in high level play: Elite II league in Minnesota. Upon completion of this schedule, the players will be eligible for participation on a team attending the highest level showcase possible. An invite only tryout may be conducted to determine spring showcase participation. Participation in the fall does not mandate nor guarantee participation in the spring. However, fall participation will demonstrate the ability to play at a higher level.
Coaches
Coaches that can develop the players are recruited to serve in these roles. No head coach will be a parent of a player.
Selectors
Experienced individuals that are not parents of a player in a division will be enlisted to assist in the selection process, and provide a different viewpoint. Ultimately, the head coach has the final choice in the team personnel.
Expenses
Upon selection, each player is responsible for the pro-rata expenses for the team. The expenses will be paid by a periodic fee. In order to offset that fee, a fundraising raffle will be conducted which will allow the player and family to contribute their share through the sale of tickets. Additional team fundraising, and program fundraising may be done to lower the amount of the pro-rata share.
Sioux Center
Sioux Center players are eligible to participate in all of the tryouts, but may not make the National Tournament teams as they are Midwest District, and Iowa Affiliate participants. Boys are eligible for the U-18 showcase.
