Matt Eng shines with two goals, Brookings Rangers BV scores game winner in the first, goes on to win in a shutout

In a shutout victory, Brookings Rangers BV handed a loss to Huron All Stars BV 6 - zero at Brookings-Red on Sunday. Brookings Rangers BV chalked up one goal to jump in to the lead in the first period. Brookings Rangers BV gained three straight goals in the second period and held on to its lead. Huron All Stars BV were not able to answer back. In the final period Brookings Rangers BV scored two straight goals adding to the margin of victory and winning the game.

Having a great day, Matt Eng made two goals for Brookings Rangers BV as well as two helpers. Things got going when Brookings Rangers BV's Eng lit the lamp with 13:21 left in the first period with an assist from Cory Roach. Steaming onward, Eng lit the lamp without assistance with 3:43 left in the second period. Brookings Rangers BV's Cory Roach made two goals for Brookings Rangers BV and also had one helper. With 3:04 left to play in the second period Roach netted an unassisted shorthanded goal. With 10:09 left to play in the third period Roach put the biscuit into the net. Matt Eng and Dylan Rittershaus got the assists on this goal.

Leading the way to a shutout for Brookings Rangers BV, Hunter Rowbotham finished with 23 saves to gain the win, despite being outshot 23 to six by Huron All Stars BV. In goal, Huron All Stars BV's Parker Hook had no saves on six shots on goal to suffer the loss.

Adding to their victory, Brookings Rangers BV went 1-for-10 on power plays. Huron All Stars BV went 0-for-9.

Brookings Rangers BV extended their winning streak to three games and ended up with a record of 10-2. Huron All Stars BV ended the game with a record of 4-7.
