The South Dakota Amateur Hockey Association has announced the induction of 15 individuals from seven local hockey associations as the members of its inaugural Hall of Fame class.
The South Dakota Hockey Hall of Fame was founded in 2022 to establish a memorial to those who have developed the sport of ice hockey in South Dakota. The first inductees will be presented during an induction banquet at 7:00pm on Friday, April 14, 2023 at the Sioux Falls Convention Center.
“We’re excited to unveil the first class of the South Dakota Hockey Hall of Fame,” said Jeff Scheel, Chairman of the selection committee. “Our sport is growing rapidly and celebrating these individuals shows where hockey has been and where it's headed in South Dakota.”
The inaugural class of 2023 includes:Builder Category Tom Hitchcock, Huron Tom Honkomp, Brookings Greg and Nancy Odde, Aberdeen Dave Tronnes, Mitchell Maxine Tronnes, Mitchell Jack Vosler, Huron Player Category Landon Badger, Pierre Glenn Cacaro, Sioux Falls Matt Farris, Pierre Justin Kirchhevel, Brookings Austin Wagner, Pierre Coach Category Randy Honkomp, Brookings Dick Novak, Rapid City Officials Category Mike Reger, Brookings

The South Dakota Amateur Hockey Association Hall of Fame (HOF) was founded in 2022 to establish a memorial to those who have developed the sport of hockey in South Dakota.
The SDAHA Hall of Fame exists in order to (1) honor and memorialize individuals who have brought special distinction to the game of hockey and those who made outstanding contributions to the development and advancement of hockey anywhere in the State of South Dakota, and (2) collect, research, preserve, exhibit and promote objects, images and other historical materials connected with the game at all levels.
The Hall of Fame will be comprised of members from 4 different influential groups within the sport of hockey. They include Players, Coaches, Officials, and Builders (executives).
The Inaugural Class of 2023 will be inducted into the SDAHA Hockey Hall of Fame in the Spring of 2023!
